Najwa Lekhaila, UMT Morocco

Since I was young, I have been inspired by women who have fought for equality and dignity. I am passionate about social justice and women's rights.

Since I became involved in the labor movement at the age of 22, my union has been an invaluable source of support, encouragement and education for me. When I joined UMT several years ago, I was greeted by experienced union leaders who immediately made me feel comfortable. They saw potential in me and encouraged me to attend trainings, meetings and union events. One of the training programs that was an unforgettable experience for me was the mentoring program organized by Uni Femme. Through this mentoring training, I gained a confidence that I had never known before. I learned how to lead meetings. I learned to listen carefully to women's problems. I began to encourage women to speak up and speak out. I also learned the importance of supporting other women in their leadership journey. I am proud to have contributed to many positive changes for women over the years. I believe we still have a lot of work to do to achieve equal opportunity, and I am determined to continue to help other women do the same. Together, we are the power!
